Scrap Our Stash Monthly Challenge

This month's challenge at Scrap Our Stash is to use three patterned papers from different collections and to use rub-ons.  It seems like I haven't scrapped in months,  oh wait, that's true.  So I decided that I needed to get back to it.  And what better way to start then a challenge?  I had lots of pictures to choose from, but I chose this years back to school photos.  I am current on birthday and back to school layout, so I decided to try to keep up with those layouts!

I managed to make all three layouts this week!  Yeah for me!  I used papers from LYB Head of the Class, and Generation Z collections.  Both were double sided, so I was able to use both sides.  Also papers from Echo Park Everyday Eclectic and one very old sheet of Reminisce Stripestock collection!  The rubons are the A, B, and C and are used from three different collections.  Other products are; Dear Lizzy stamp, Paper Studio brads and washi tape, American Crafts Thickers, and Cricut Street Sign.

Lego Party invite!

While searching through all the Lego party ideas, I came across this one for the invitation. I liked the idea of using a picture of Legos, but not the handwriting on the Legos. So we set up a little background and I let the twins pick out one guy for their picture! And this is what I came up with. I tried using the actual Lego Font, but since it's an outline, it didn't show up well on the background. I could have added the text on top of a white box, but I think this font looks just as cute. If you use this idea, make sure to offset your subject so you have space to print your information. I will send these to Sam's Club to be printed for $.17 each! Cheap and cute invitations!! Birthday time again!!

It's time to start planning my twins birthday party again! Wow! I can't believe that they are turning six! Where does the time go? They have both agreed on a Lego birthday party at my house. This will be a first for us. It's always been easier to pay someone to host it for me!! But we are running out of locations for something new and exciting. So a party at home it is!! My goal for this Lego party is to keep to a budget. I want to stay around $100 for decorations, gift bags, and games. I got a great start at the Dollar Tree. Instead of paying an outrageous amount for the Lego plates and napkins, I am going to use primary colors. I found square plates, napkins, forks, tablecloths, and buckets. I really don't think that 15 six year olds will be wondering where the Lego napkins are!!! Pinterest has been a great inspiration!! I've found so many games and ideas for decorations. And to stay on budget, I will have to make almost all of the decorations! I will keep you guys posted! Happy crafting! Pin It

Joy Christmas Garland

Here is another cute little Christmas decoration that I made for the mantle, a ribbon garland. This was easy to make, but a little time consuming. I used several different Christmas ribbons, all in the same colors, red jingle bells, and red glitter cardstock. I cut the letters out with my Cricut and spaced them evenly out on some white ribbon. Then I cut and tied, cut and tied, cut and tied, and, well, you get the point! Fill in the spaces with the ribbon and add your jingle bells in. I ended up using about 12 different ribbons, and half of them I used the whole roll. But I think it was worth it! What a better way to keep some of your favorite ribbon for next year! Happy crafting! Santa's Magic Key

Here's a cute Christmas project that your kids will love!! My boys always ask me how Santa gets in our house since we do not have a chimney. So here is my answer, "He has a magic Santa key!" I picked these keys up out of the dollar bin at Michaels a few months ago. They were cute, but I wasn't exactly sure what to do with them. As Christmas started approaching, I thought that this was a great use for them! I found the tag template here. Printed it out, fussy cut around it, matted it on red cardstock, and added the key and the ribbon!! Easy, peasy, and cute!! And you can keep it on your tree as an ornament when your kids are finished with it. Happy crafting! Pin It

Snowman ornament

Here's a cute little snowman ornament that I made this week. I used acrylic paint to cover the inside, and then painted the outside. To seal it, I used a clear coat of glitter spray. A cute and easy ornament to make for the holidays! Happy crafting! Edited to add: This is a glass ornament that I found at Hobby Lobby. I poured some white paint on the inside of the ornament and made sure it was all covered. I did find out that if you are not careful while it is drying, it will continue to run. I put the face side down as it dried, so that the front would still be covered completely. I painted the cap, face, and buttons on the outside. After everything was dried, I used a glitter spray to seal the paint on the outside, otherwise it would all scratch off.

Canvas with scraps

I just finished this canvas for a friends birthday. This was spurred by another pin that I found on Pinterest. I used my scrapbook paper scraps and Modge Podge to glue them to my canvas. While it was drying, I used my Cricut to cut out some contact paper in the phrase. After the canvas was dry, I added my letters to the canvas and then covered it in paint. I wasn't too concerned about covering all the paper. I wanted some of the pattern to show through. After that was dry, I removed the contact paper to reveal the saying. Cute, easy, and a great way to use up your scraps!! Pin It
