Well, okay maybe I have fallen off.....

the face of the earth!! I have been busy with all kinds of stuff other than scrapping! Mostly I have been busy shopping for scrap supplies that I am not using at the moment including a few new Cricut carts! I have managed to make the twins's birthday banner with Mickey Font and promise to post pictures of it soon! I have also fallen way behind on my goal of hitting 52 layouts this year. I am at a grand total of four! But I will make up for it soon. I do have several ideas for layouts and tons of new pictures to print out! And I promise to get back to blogging, even if I have to post without pics! Happy crafting!

Happy New Year! What's your scrapping resolutions?

A new year always brings resolutions, so why not scrapping resolutions? Here is what I would like to accomplish this year.

Learn Adobe photoshop. I want to create cool photo arrangements to add to my paper scrapbook. I also want to learn to do some digital scrapbooking. And since I got a Bamboo Tablet and Photoshop for Christmas, I have no excuse.

I want to make a first year book for my oldest son. I wasn't in to scrapbooking too much until after his first birthday, but I have all the old photos waiting to go into an album.

Get the thousands and thousands of photos, (both digital and printed) under control. I have albums ready for those printed out, but need to get them arranged. The digital ones have new folders, now they just need to get into the right place!

I would like to have 52 layouts done by the end of the year. That's one a week, not too hard to imagine.

I am sure that there are several others that I need to do this year. Getting my ever growing scrap stash under control comes to mind. But where's the fun in not buying supplies? I hope that 2009 is a great year for us all. And that all of our hopes, dreams, and resolutions come true this year!!

Pound For Pound Challenge

No, I have not fallen off the face of the earth.....

But I have been busy with all of the holiday preparation and planning. Shopping, cooking, making cards, pictures, programs, parties, and the list goes on and on... Hopefully things will get close to normal after the holidays and my regular posting will resume. I hope that everyone has a wonderful and safe Christmas and New Year!

Advent Calendar

So the projects have been posted and they all look great!! This is my advent calendar made from altered flash cards. If you don't have any of these laying around your house, check out the dollar store. I found several different sizes there all for $1. Posting the directions for each page would be crazy!!! But I am sure that all of you know how to alter something. But I do have a couple of tips if you are going to make a project like this. Wait untill all of your pages are done before you do the numbers. I rearranged my pages several times before I decided on the order. That was mostly to keep the same papers from being back to back. Do 24-12 one way and then switch the book around to see the 11-1. This keeps you from having to turn the album every day. Not a big ordeal, but it could get annoying!! This projects takes alot of paper, glue, and other supplies. My Christmas paper stash is gone!! Make sure you have extra on hand to keep from running out in the middle of your project. The last two weeks I have used almost everything in my stash. My Cricut Blade is dull, my mat needs to be resticky, and I made three trips for more supplies. Why you ask? Well, I can't show you just yet! But it was for this week's project at Whimsical Scraps & Bugs. And I can't wait to show you the entire project!! Tip for the Week

While I was working on my DT project for this week, I was wasting alot of cuts that were ripping when I popped them out from the paper or spending too long using my craft knife to try to save them. So, to try to keep this from happening, this is what I came up with. Turn the paper over and sand the back of the cut. This thins out the paper and the design will come out with out having to cut the design by hand. This is also helpful for intricate cuts that you risk tearing when popping out of the paper. I hope this saves you some time away from the craft knife. Happy crafting!

Boo! 2nd DT project

Here is my second project for the Whimsical Scraps and Bugs Design Team. The challenge was to use the colors black, orange, purple, and yellow, Design Studio, and glitter. I did get stuck on the yellow and the glitter but I do think that this is a fun layout. I welded my title together in Design Studio and then hand cut a ghost out to put behind the title. ( I tried to design a ghost, but wasn't happy with the results.) The bats are from a shaped ribbon and I just cut them apart and used Glue Dots to attach them. The white letters are leftovers from my Quickuts that I keep in a box. They are a mix of all my mini's. Thanks for looking. Happy crafting!
